Crathes Charolais was founded in 2002 by Keith and Roz Glasson who selected their base genetics from Noller , Advance , Goonadoo, and Palgrove bloodlines.

Keith said " After 25 years heading up Pioneer , Australia's most successful Corn , Sorghum and Canola breeding Company he was acutely aware that any successful breeding programme ( plant or animal ) was dependent on its base genetics and setting sound breeding objectives to meet customer needs.

Having since added leading Charolais genetics from all over the world and additionally from Moongool Charolais in Australia , Crathes Charolais has created an excellent balance of French and Australian genetics such that Crathes is now a small but extremely elite Charolais breeding enterprise producing the "best females to breed the best bulls" to meet customer needs.

Roz said "Our breeding objectives at Crathes have been developed from a long family history in the cattle and plant breeding industry ensuring that we cover all important traits with good balance so that our progeny are structurally sound, have high performance, are of low maintenance, expressing adequate muscling and we have a sharp focus to calving ease , softness and finish with the ability to fatten on pasture from weaning."

"Years of breeding experience has also taught us that females are the backbone to any successful breeding enterprise therefore we are pedantic about ensuring we select breeders with excellent milk, great temperament, strong maternal instincts , proven family fertility and with top lines , volume and hip to pin ratios second to none" Keith added.
